IM ending it

Dating and relationship trends have changed over the years and technology has certainly had a hand in how things are done. The Philadelphia Inquirer had an article today -- Breaking up isn't hard to do: Hit 'send' -- about the regression in dating where couples are looking not just for the clean and easy way of getting into a relationship, but the same in getting out of one.

Should come as no surprise to you.

You are correct. Not a suprise. I've been on both ends of the equation. Frankly, I'm not sure how they think there is anything easy about it -- when you lose your best friend and love...

Totally your choice.

Ultimately, yes. But that doesn't mean I liked the choice. It was made believing it was the right thing to do. She suggested it herself a number of times, so I can only think she would agree it was the only reasonable course. I, often, tended to lean towards things far less rational.

Bullshit. Always the easy way out for you. And the way out that doesn't involved selflessness.

"_", I really don't understand your comments. I'm beginning to think we are talking about two different things here. There was no "easy way" nor one that allowed for "selflessness". No matter what I did, somebody was going to view me as a selfish bastard.

Yes, I broke up with her by email. And pointing to the fact that she had done the same to me is certainly not good enough justification, but it does ease the discomfort in doing it that way. The reason I did it that way was selfish. I could not have said the words after hearing her voice. I could barely type them as it was and thoughts of regret struck me the moment I sent it.

Fact of the matter is, she is the only woman I have said or been able to say "I love you" to in over 15 years ... and still is.
