Three Answers

alrighty then! some of you took the opportunity to fire questions over at me. i must admit i was a bit nervous not knowing what sort of questions might get asked. sure, i could always not answer, but what fun would that be? so instead, i'll sit here and listen to some music and tap out my answers.

and aaaawaaayyyyyyy weeee gooooo!!

1) how old were you when you lost your virginity?
well, lets just start right out there on the edge eh? i had a short discussion with someone about this. just what exactly constitutes a guy (or a gal for that matter) losing their virginity. is it sex of any kind which can be interpreted quite differently (ask bill clinton) or is it when there has been classical "penetration"? so now that i've danced around the question a bit -- shaking my ass i might add -- i'm going say it was much later in life than most would expect from an otherwise ordinary looking fellow. allowing a fellow to keep some semblance of face, lets just leave it at that.

2) what's your favorite movie?
hmmm. i can't say that i have an absolute favorite as a lot of movies mean different things for me; however, seeing as you asked and i owe you answer, i'm inclined to say "dead poet's society" is very high on my list.

3) what's your favorite game and why?
game 7 of the stanley cup finals count? i didn't think so. well, with an appropriate opponent, i always enjoy a good game of chess; however, as a potentially 2 or more player game, i like risk. for old-style arcade games, i always love the game tron and one day would like to have one at home. i do; however, have a foozball table, though not quite like this one. mine is actually coin-op.

1. which shoe do you put on first?
i'm so tempted to point out that i tend to wear sandles, but that doesn't really change the fact that i tend to put my left shoe or sandle off first. with my sandles i'll often slip both feet in roughly the same time, but still strap up the left first most of the time.

2. do you dream in colour?
my daydreams are definitely in colour. i don't dream at night very often anymore. that or my brain is surpressing them well enough that i don't remember them. but my daydreams can be quite vivid and are in colour.

3. what's your middle name?
that's an easy one. i don't have one. i suppose that leaves me open for letting trouble be my middle name, but i'll manage.

1) If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
this depends on a lot of factors, but assuming things like work and family don't have to factor in, i have always envisioned myself up in the mountains away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. now i'm not grizzly adams, so i'd certainly need to have stores within a reasonable drive as well as hot/cold running water, toilets (not outhouse), phone, and definitely an internet connection. satellite service for those would be just fine. gotta have some trees and a babbling brooke nearby. i could go on and on about this, but i think you get the picture.

2) What's your favorite time of day?
specifically? 11:11 it's a number thing and that time always makes me smile inside. more generally speaking, i'm a night person. i am much more comfortable doing things late at night rather than early in the morning.

3) Briefs or boxers?
boxer-briefs actually. that's not me pictured, btw. i'm a bit bigger... in the belly heh.

1. What is your favorite song? Why?
ok, i have to draw the line here. there is no way i can name a favorite song. i like far too many songs. alright, alright.... ignoring the stuff that most people have probably heard -- like stuff from nirvana, eric clapton, and many more -- i really like the neuvo-flamenco music from ottmar liebert. i'm not sure i could pick a single song of his either, but i'll go with the first one i heard by him -- 2 the Night. His Samba Pa Ti with carlos santana is way up there too. great music!

2. What was your first job?
excluding doing currency exchange while overseas (as a 12 year old -- very alex p. keaton-esque), my first get a paycheck job was working at a sporting goods store in newport-news virgina called dvf sports. i have quite a few fond memories from that place! thanks for making me think of it again.

3. If you could meet anyone who has passed on who would it be and why?
there are quite a number all with different goals in mind, but i think i would go with richard feynman if i could only choose one. and ha! to all those that were expecting me to say kurt cobain, though that would be really cool.

1) You get a free pizza with only one topping, what topping do you choose?
CHEESE, extra cheese!

2) You are featured on a porn site, what would it be called?
an anonymous coward on a porn site? that's a bit of a contradition don't you think? but hey, i'll play the game -- i'll name that porn site that features me -- A Man and his Monster. i know some of you out there are probably laughing. good, because me featured on a porn site would be a laughing matter. but thanks for asking.

3) You win $100 million dollars, what would you do with it?
after dying from shock? i'd start off by paying off all my debts and the debts of all immediate family members. i would then let my altruistic side be seen more and would definitely let loose of some cash. essentially, after making sure that family is taken care for, i'd want to give a lot of it away. knowing me, i'd spend the rest of my life trying to buy happiness. i might not ever get there, but it sure would be fun as hell trying to get there. now if i could run into billions, i'd buy a hockey team and also do all of the above. you think mark cuban is an owner-fan, you ain't seen nuthin' until you've seen me at the helm. heh.

1. What do you consider the happiest moment/event in your life to date?
no fair asking tough questions! who do you think you are barbara walters? you know, the sad thing is that there are a number of events that should probably stand out, but they don't. my very first thought was -- oh like when the sharks won their very first playoff series against detroit in 1994? but that too has faded. to be honest, i think i'm currently at a time in my life where happiness just isn't sticking with me. from where i stand now, i'm gonna be that 80-year old man dwelling on all the things he never truly appreciated in life when he should have. if i'm lucky, i'll snap out of it.

2. What do you consider the most terrifying/scariest moment/event in your life to date?
another tough one ba-ba-wa. what's up with this? funny... i'm having a much easier time coming up with ones that fit this bill than the "happy" question you had before. my trouble here is picking one. one that involved me most directly, and i'll go with it as my answer, was when i was like a freshman in college and was hanging out with all my friends on a friday/saturday night -- drinking and doing stupid things. one of the dumbest was drinking and driving. i had way too much and we were cruising up the williamsburg parkway, a couple buddies and a girl in the back, my girl and her friend in the front. i vaguely remember blanking out and waking up as we came to a stop -- off the road and just feet away from hitting a tree. that snapped me wide awake, to nearly a sober point. i remember us moving to the backseat and one of the others drove from there. i completely passed out sometime later, waking up the next morning in the back of my car which by then was parked in front of my house. i snuck in and as far as i know was never caught. of course my dad still doesn't admit to half the things he's probably caught me at -- and i'm ok with that. thankfully nobody was hurt, and i've been a stickler ever since about drinking and driving. that night scared me straight!

3. What person has had the greatest influence in your life?
i wish i knew so i could slap the shit out of them. i have always been a bit rebellious and never followed the beat of any drummer. my father always said if he said the sky was blue, i'd say it was green just to argue and be different. so to be perfectly honest, i think i've been influenced by such a wide variety of sources, people, and events that it would be hard to call any one of them the greatest. speaking in numbers, the greatest influence probably contributed less than 5% overall.

at times, i think i'm just a bit of a lost soul still searching for that influence and meaning. scary thing is that at this point in my life i'm supposed to be the one doing the influencing, and to some degree that scares the crap out of me. about all i can guarantee about my influence is that those looking to me will be skeptical, question authority, and beat their own drums -- for better or worse i'm afraid.

well, thank all of you for your questions. hopefully my answers quenched your curiousity and/or gave you some insight into who i am. if you are seeing something like a cold, dark spot when thinking of me... yup, you've got me right. until next time... i'll leave you with the tune i'm listening to as i'm finishing this up...

Heaven -- Los Lonely Boys

a nice, fairly upbeat tune.... give it a listen if you can.

quick bonus insight -- am i the only person that noticed that the first questions where numbered with parens following the number (e.g. 1)) then the second set had numbers followed by a dot (e.g. 1.), and it alternated back and forth. weird!
