Everyone Lies

everyone. don't think you do? think again.

Everybody lies ... every day, every hour, awake, asleep, in his dreams, in his joy, in his mourning. If he keeps his tongue still his hands, his feet, his eyes, his attitude will convey deception. -- Mark Twain

i recently read Natural-Born Liars in Scientific American Mind (June 2005). And while much of the article was either citing less than interesting research, a number of interesting points came to the surface.

  • everyone lies, men and women equally.
  • not just humans, even plants and animals
  • we tend to remember the lies of others more than those of our own
  • we often lie to ourselves... convincingly
all in all an interesting read.
