Ring of Fire

When I listen to broadcast radio, it is almost always a local NPR station. After a disappointing loss tonight, I got to listen to This American Life on my long drive home. If you get a chance to listen to it (produced 9/19/03), give it a listen -- it should be on their website within the week.

After listening, I've found a new respect for Johnny Cash of all people. His romance with June Carter -- from beginning to end -- was one for the ages. They achieved the seemingly impossible, particularly given the time, their families and backgrounds.

I Fell Into A Burning Ring Of Fire
I Went Down, Down, Down
And The Flames Went Higher

And It Burns, Burns, Burns
The Ring Of Fire
The Ring Of Fire
And if you listen to the show, the lyrics to Ring of Fire will make a lot more sense too. There is quite a bit of irony in Johnny Cash's version to boot, but I'll leave that research to those interested.
